We analyzed data from Knack companies across markets and industries to identify the most in-demand skills (aka “knacks”) that employers look for in new hires. These skills span traditional cognitive abilities, but also soft skills and social skills.
The data reveals three key insights:
- Results are Paramount. Employers seek new hires who demonstrate an ownership mindset, take initiative, and persevere in solving problems and getting things done.
- You can’t get important stuff done alone. In-demand talent must be able to lead and motivate others, work collaboratively, and engage effectively with people to get their help or buy-in.
- Continuous learning is the new normal. The ability and readiness to pick new skills and use feedback and experience as dynamic drivers of growth are critical. This is especially true in the digital workforce where the half-life of knowledge and functional skills become increasingly shorter.
